Kirkwood (upstairs amps here) was trouble shooting an intermittent problem and this is what he found. Â If you look close you can see the cracks around the solder terminal separating the component from the circuit. Â He said this is an all too common problem. Â Â Â Â Â We also see this from time to time on guitar pots where there is a little crack between the terminal and wire or capacitor. Â This can come from moving the parts, or not heating the parts with even heat (heat the part not the solder) before the solder has cooled creating a “cold” solder joint or simply not using enough solder to make it strong.
